Best of Awards are a joke

The Coastal Virginia 'Best of the Beach' awards are a complete joke. Easy to get one...just nominate yourself and get all of your friends and family to vote for you every single day. This award has nothing to do with the quality of the business--nothing.

The Hidden Seashell

Coastal Virginia is where I was born, raised, and continue to live. I enjoy seeing my city, community, and neighboring cities highlighted. There are several high quality businesses, restaurants, festivals, and recreational programs in this area that are not advertised or recognized. When people do find out about them, they wished they knew about these hidden seashell gems earlier.

Prefer the "mags" old name

The jury is still out in this house to keep the subscription now that it has a new name that certain "someone's" are trying to shove down the throat of The Hampton Roads communities of Virginia. Virginia Beach is embarking on a trail to try and make an entire region it's own because it is so desperate in wanting to play in the "big boy's' sandbox....they can't. This region is so much more and it's name, Hampton Roads, deserves the respect for which all of the history that the name is emblazoned with. Additionaly, the article on pg. 18 was nothing but, puffery!

It was ok. I got it because I plan to vacation on Virginia Beach this fall.

This is a very interesting magazine.

This magazine has lots of information about the Hampton Roads area. The last issue that I received had a great part on restaurants in the area. I could read reviews of the various restaurants and the type of cuisine that I could find there.

Too many ads

This magazine has far to many ads and to few articles to hold anyone's interest. I was very disappointed in the magazine. I receive North Carolina magazine monthly and it is full of wonderful stories about people that are interesting or have contributed to their communities. I think the publisher would learn alot by looking at other magazines like Reminise or NC magazine. It would be far more interesting to see pics of the area long ago than all the ads published.
